About minderfinders
minderfinders Ireland's first babysitting service that offers an on-line booking service, guaranteeing the provision of suitably experienced minders.
minderfinders was established in the summer of 2002, when a niche in the market was clearly identified for casual evening time and weekend babysitting. As the traditional family network to meet casual babysitting needs had weakened, making it more and more difficult for parents to find reliable childcare outside of crèche hours. The founders brought with them a wealth of experience in IT, business management and childcare.
At that time minderfinders operated as a traditional agency, i.e. matching up suitable candidates with families and confirming bookings by telephone, babysitters availability was not confirmed for any given date without first phoning them!
Parents were asked to give 24 hours minimum notice when they required a babysitter, a number of babysitters had to be contacted by telephone very often on the day that they were required to do the booking, until one with adequate experience meeting that family's needs was found!
In November 2004 minderfinders set about developing the customized database software, the brainchild system that is minderfinders today! This web and text technology system was launched in April 2005, all members of the service were issued with a username and password and were encouraged to log their bookings themselves! The on-line booking service was fully functioning by the end of summer 2005.
